Where
are the courses taught?
Most courses are taught in two sections. The classroom
portion is taught in Springfield, VA and the range portion
is taught at the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, VA.
Do I need
to bring my own firearm?
No, students are encouraged to bring their own firearm, if
available. However, if students do not own one, a firearm
can be provided at no additional cost.
What guns
are available for use?
A variety of semiautomatics and revolvers in various
calibers are available for use. See the
Gun
Room for details.
Are there
any additional charges for the courses?
Any range fees associated with the class.........
Can I take
the FIRST Steps Pistol and Multi-State Concealed Handgun
Permit course at the same time?
Yes. After the conclusion of the Multi-State Concealed
Handgun Permit class, students who wish to take both courses
can attend a range session which will complete the
requirements for the FIRST Steps course.
Is the course fun?
YES! All people who have taken these courses have thoroughly
enjoyed themselves. Many have taken up shooting as a frequent
hobby.
Is this safe?
YES! All courses focus on safety before heading to the range.
Courses are 2/3 in the classroom and 1/3 on the range.
Can I take a course?
YES! Women and men of all ages are able to take this course.
Those who are under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal
guardian present for the duration of the course.
I am traveling to the US on vacation can
I still participate?
YES! As long as you are traveling
here legally and have not been convicted of serious offense in
your country you can participate.
I would like to take the course with
another person is this allowed?
YES! Taking the course with a friend or few is an excellent
idea, this offers an opportunity to be competitive and learn
from each other
